History of New Life Bible Church
New Life Bible Church was started on September 9, 2007 as a church plant in North Richland Hills, TX. This area, located in the DFW Metroplex (almost 7 million), is filled with people who are in need of the Savior.
Our first planning meeting was at Panera Bread as Pastor John, Shawn, Micah, and Lynnelle Rhinier, discussed the possibility of a church plant in the Metroplex. We met in the Pastor’s home at first, but as the church grew, we moved into a temporary facility (Black Belt Academy) on Davis Blvd. We occupied this facility for almost two years.
Thanks to the goodness of the Lord, our NLBC family, and help from our visiting missionaries, Ken & Connie McBride, we moved to our present location at 1810 Brown Trail, Bedford, TX.
We have chosen John 10:10 as our NLBC theme verse, “… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Please pray for us as we share this gift of abundant life with the many souls God brings into our path. To God be the glory!
Pastor John Lutz’s background and ministry
I received my BA and MA degrees (Bible, 1983; Pastoral Studies, 1988) from Bob Jones University, SC, and served as an assistant to the Dean of Men for four years. I then served as senior pastor at Faith Bible Church, Mt. Joy, PA for almost 14 years. I then left along with 6 seed families to plant Harvest Bible Church in Lancaster, PA. God blessed this work abundantly, and it became indigenous in one year. HBC continued to grow numerically and spiritually. I resigned on March 25, 2007, and Pastor Jon Walters was voted in a few weeks later. We praise God for the smooth transition.
I’m also working on my Doctorate of Sacred Ministry (DSM) degree from Northland International University, and I’m a Chaplain at a mental health/chemical dependency hospital. I specifically work with our military who return from Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD, chemical, and emotional struggles. I have an incredible wife (Shawn), three loving children (Morgan, Meredith, & Micah), and a terrific dog (Chutney).
